Team Coast Guard competed in the 5th Annual No Such Hockey Winter Classic this past Saturday on Whitey’s Pond at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, MD. The event, organized by the veteran-led No Such Hockey organization, brought together teams from across the National Capital Region representing the military, law enforcement, and intelligence community.
Team Coast Guard opened the tournament in dominant fashion, rattling off four straight wins to secure the No. 1 seed heading into the afternoon playoff rounds. The momentum continued in elimination play, with two decisive victories setting up a championship matchup against the United States Secret Service.
In a thrilling final, Team Coast Guard fell behind early 1–0 but responded with three unanswered goals to take control of the game. The offense continued to surge, and the team ultimately captured the championship with a 9–4 victory. The Coast Guard team was represented by members from the following units: Coast Guard Headquarters, Coast Guard Intelligence Coordination Center, Coast Guard Cyber Command, and Coast Guard Cryptologic Unit Washington D.C.
A special thank you to No Such Hockey for organizing another outstanding event. Through the tournament, more than $7,000 was raised in support of K9 Hurricane's Heroes, a nonprofit dedicated to providing subsidized veterinary care for retired military and law enforcement K9s to ensure they enjoy healthy, well-deserved retirements.
